Skincare can be quite overwhelming and then having to develop your skincare routine. No wonder people get slightly confused with the billions of skincare products and information out there. I have put together a simple step by step guide of how a skincare routine should look like (I am not an expert but I have done the research so we are good).
Essentials steps in skincare routine (I have put them in the order that they should be in, this is only according to my research and what I have found works best for me):
- Cleansing: vital stage of skincare routine. In the evenings I do use a makeup remover before cleansing just to get some of the makeup off. I do also double cleanse on most evenings, the only time I don't is if I have had a stay at home day.
- Toning: Toners have become really popular over the last year or so and everyone has recognised the importance of toning. Toners help to lower the ph level of your skin and prep it for the next stage of your skin routine.
- Eye Cream: I used to always put my eye cream last, which was pretty stupid of me but now I know. It's really important to put on your eye cream first, so that it absorbs into your skin and does it's magic.
- Serums & Oils: I do love a good facial serum and oil especially now as the weather gets really cold, they do wonders for your skin. If you are using more than one serum or oil is it's best to go in order depending on the consistency so the lightest first because they absorb into the skin quicker. Put on serums first and oils afterwards.
- Moisturiser: last step of your routine if you are doing in the evenings. Moisturiser acts as a protective hydrating seal for your skin.
- SPF: we all have to do, no matter the weather it's really important to wear spf every single day.
I hope you find this post useful. For me developing my skincare routine was kinda hard at first something like this would have really helped. I could do will all the skincare advice I can get, so let me know what your best skincare tips and tricks are.

It's always baffles me whenever someone tells me they don't believe in skincare or don't follow a proper routine. I started my skincare routine since I was in high school and I believe it really shows now that I am in my 30s. My friends who started their skincare routine later definitely have worse skin. This is a great list and it's a very helpful guide for beginners.
